Not exactly either of those things. I like the language of flowers a lot, and I've always liked the idea of dresses inspired by flowers.
So when I got into generation 4 of MLP, my interests kicked around in my head with all things pony until the idea formed.
Kinda like, "I wonder what flower means loyalty" and after several google searches I moved on from there.
